In addition to managing building operations for this entity, he also served as an appointed officer of the Texas Association of Builders and the Greater Houston Builders Association.

In May of 1995 he joined the start-up team at Candlewood Hotel Company, managing site selection, acquisition and project entitlement. With Value Place, he was directly involved with defining the prototypical building design, site criteria and construction process. He acquired sites and coordinated construction for the first six company owned properties.
