Ms. Pennell-Mayer is in charge of corporate strategy, business development and operations for Associated Ventures; a real estate development and investment firm concentrating on value-add and repositioning projects across asset classes including hotel, multifamily, mixed-use properties and real estate related businesses, situated across the United States and internationally. Melanie broadens the platform of company to include projects outside of the domestic sphere via her expertise in international markets. A first for AV, she spearheaded the development of a new concept in mid-scale urban boutique hotels catering to the business segment with the premier property opened to rave reviews. Before her tenure at AV, she joined Site Realty, Inc., as Executive Vice President to the company, specializing in all phases of packaging of commercial and residential properties where she consulted in joint venture financing and repositioning strategies. She began her real estate career at Jon Douglas Company in marketing strategy and due diligence of commercial and multifamily assets.
Prior to her entry into the real estate secor, Melanie was President of Morgan Niko, Inc., a venture capital firm, where she provided expertise in corporate finance and business strategies to micro-cap and start-up companies in a variety of sectors including auto, technology, communications and sports/entertainment industries. She formed PB Concepts, a consulting firm to the amenity and cosmetic industry in all phases of product development, sales and export. The company partnered with Fernando Romero Beverly Hills, where she served as President, to create the day spa and studio divisions in Beverly Hills and Mexico City. She consulted with a number of companies related to that industry including Contemporary Resources, Inc., a company specializing in amenities for the hotel industry where she advised in corporate strategy, marketing and product development. Melanie entered the business world via the entertainment industry. She enjoyed success at Pegasus Productions, a motion picture and television production company, where she developed feature film and episodic television for domestic and international markets.
A native of California, Melanie received her Bachelor of Arts at the University of California at Los Angeles. In addition to her role at AV, her charitable affiliations include past Director of Celebrity Corps, a nonprofit corporation working to prevent Los Angeles at-risk youth from leading a life of crime though intervention, counseling, education and legal aid to children and their families and member of the National Association of the Arts, a nonprofit corporation providing scholarships to universities of the arts across the United States.
