Martin Caverly is a private equity real estate professional with more than 25 years of U.S. and international real estate investment and management experience.
Caverly is currently the Chief Investment Officer for Resource Real Estate, Inc., where he is primarily responsible for the development of new investment products, and will be developing an office platform for the company. Resource Real Estate currently has over $3.1bn in assets under management, primarily in the apartment sector, and in publicly traded real estate securities.
Prior to, Caverly was the CEO of EVOQ Properties (OTC: EVOQ), a publicly held real estate company formerly known as Meruelo Maddux, which had a primary focus on downtown Los Angeles. EVOQs portfolio included a mix of operating, redevelopment and land assets, with significant value-add opportunities across the portfolio. Mr. Caverly led the successful re-capitalization, rationalization, and recent sale of the company. Significantly, this turn-around included the repositioning of the 32-acre industrial buildings and produce marts near the Arts District, known as Alameda Square, into what is now a leading center for creative office and innovation.
Mr. Caverly is also a founder and managing partner of 2120 Partners, a real estate consulting, advisory and principal investing firm. Founded in 2001, the firm is focused on fund raising, operational, and investing strategies for existing real estate platforms as well as for institutional investors and high net-worth capital.
Previously, Mr. Caverly was a Principal at OConnor Capital Partners where he opened and headed all West Coast operations for the firm. He also has held senior positions with Security Capital Group in Chicago and London and Tishman Speyer in London, where he was the head of European acquisitions for the firms core and opportunistic funds. While in London, he also cofounded Centric Telecom, a real estate technology company sponsored by Goldman Sachs and Providence Equity Partners. He began his career at Citigroup Real Estate in New York.
Mr. Caverly holds an AB from Harvard College and an MM from Northwestern Universitys Kellogg Graduate School of Management. He is a frequent speaker at various real estate conferences and is an active member of numerous real estate organizations.
